I always cherish teaching because i believe teaching  inculcates one's values and knowledge to the younger generation . It also keeps the  mind young and brisk. Good Researcher will be a  Good teacher too. I enjoy my days working with my students and my colleagues.

From 1981 to 1989

     

v     Actively involved in teaching Biochemistry to undergraduates [M.B.B.S (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor Surgery) and B.Sc. (Medical Laboratory Technology students)] and graduates [M.Sc. and M.D. (Biochemistry)].

v     Delivered at least two lectures per week for graduates (14 students) and at least one course per semester for undergraduates (70 students) for eight years.

v     In-charge of designing and delivering graduate practical courses.

v     Student counselor for graduate students.

Human Clinical Biochemistry

Human Nutritional Biochemistry

Chemistry of Carbohydrates

Human Carbohydrate metabolism

Basic Immunology and immunization technology.

  • v     Standardized new techniques and introduced them into the clinical biochemistry laboratory investigations.

  • v     Assisted inter-departmental research programs and supervised special clinical investigations such as Radio-Immuno Assay (RIA) of T3, T4, Insulin, FSH, LH, Prolactin, Vitamin B12, etc.

Title: “Effects of tolbutamide and glucose metabolism on the functions of beta cells of the pancreas in rats”.

 

M.Sc. (Biochemistry) - 1981, Faculty of Medicine with Anatomy and Physiology as ancillaries, JIPMER, University of Madras, INDIA.

Awarded with First Class.

 

B.Sc. (Chemistry) - 1977, with Zoology and Physics as ancillaries, University of Madras, INDIA.

Awarded with First Class.

·         Canadian Society of Immunology (CSI) Travel Award” for Attending Xth International Congress of Immunology, New Delhi, India, 1998.

·         Postdoctoral Research Fellowship by the Arthritis Society of Canada”. 1993-94, 1994-95 & 1995-96.

·         "Research Award for teachers working in Medical Colleges" (National competition award) by the University Grants Commission (UGC), INDIA, 1985-1987 (UGC is a national granting body).

O       Served as Board of Director (1994, 2001, 2002), Secretary (1995, 1996), Vice President (1997) and President (2000).

O       Initiated the Tamil language teaching by starting Tamil language schools in Vancouver and Surrey.

O       Teacher (1994-1998) and advisor (2001 – Present) for the Tamil schools.

O       Prepared community grant applications for the Society and successfully obtained grants from gamming commission ($18000 – 21000/year) in the past several years.

O       Editor for the annual Souvenir published by the Society

O       Designed and maintaining a webpage for the Society.
