Here, in Vancouver, I am known as Swami. I am living with my family, Wife-Mangayarkkarasi known here as Mangai and my twin kids, Son-Karthik and Daughter-Kiruthika from 1993.
I was born in a village called Rasampalayam in Tamil Nadu, a southern most state in India. After having my elementary education in this village, I went to the high school in Kodumudi [Yes, your guess is right! - K.B. Sundarambal was from here]. For those who are still unable to place where am I from, Kodumudi is situated 30 KM south of Erode [where Periyar EVR was born] and my native place Rasampalayam is about 6 KM from Kodumudi. After completing High School, I did my undergraduate studies at Kandasamy Kander's College [the famous KKC!], Velur (Salem) and post graduate studies at JIPMER, Pondicherry and got B.Sc. (Chemistry), M.Sc. (Biochemistry) and Ph.D. (Biochemistry) from the University of Madras. I speak Tamil and learned English in my school and French in the University. At present, I am working at Amgen British Columbia a site present in Burnaby, BC, Canada. We were under Abgenix Biopharma Inc , which was a subsidiary of Abgenix and was acquired by Amgen. Originally, it was called as ImmGenics Pharmaceuticals , a spin off Company from UBC. Till the end of 1998, I was at The Biomedical Research Centre, a research centre existing at the University of British Columbia. University of British Columbia, commonly known as UBC. It is in the city of Vancouver located in the province of British Columbia at the west coast of Canada.
Before coming to Vancouver, I was working at the Inflammation and Immunology-Rheumatalogy Research Unit (IIRU), a research unit within the Laval University Medical Centre or better known in French as Le Centre Hospitalier de l'Universite Laval (CHUL) and as the name indicates, affliated to the Laval University located in the city of Quebec. Quebec city is the capital city of the Province Quebec, in Canada. I and my family moved to Quebec in 1989.
